How sticky.io helped a consumer packaged goods brand boost subscription growth, reduce churn and increase revenue.
Truly Free (formerly called MyGreenFills) required an ecommerce platform that streamlined the billing process and enabled their customers to self-manage their subscriptions. The brand first turned to Shopify, ClickFunnels and Wordpress plugins, but Truly Free CEO Stephen Ezell said those options were, “just a real big spaghetti mess of different apps.”
In hopes of a more centralized system and flexible membership site, they migrated and built their own platform and API on Zuora. However, they very quickly realized Zuora is not built for subscription ecommerce businesses that sell and ship physical goods.
Truly Free needed flexible billing and offers, a customized membership site and advanced reporting and analytics for physical products and scalability support. So they set out to do another migration.
Truly Free was looking for a company with expertise in the subscription commerce space and vast experience working with growing ecommerce businesses selling physical goods — and that’s exactly what they found with sticky.io.
sticky.io took what we were looking for in an ecommerce platform to a whole new level. The analytics/reporting are one of the best I’ve seen in the industry.”
— Stephen Ezell, CEO, Truly Free
sticky.io enabled Truly Free to offer their customers unparalleled subscription customization, including: upgrades/downgrades, mix-and-match options, different discounting models, upsells and cross-sells. Truly Free customers could also change billing frequency, change next billing dates and set subscriptions by cycle, by date and by day.
After migrating to sticky.io, Truly Free could enable flexible billing on the backend, while also enabling customers to set their own parameters and make changes to fit their needs — without contacting customer service.
Truly Free also gained deep insights into their business with dashboards that showed critical data, such as their MRR or CLTV for every customer, as well as forecasting for subscriptions.
With a couple of simple clicks, I can see my member lifetime values on a minute-by-minute or cohorted basis, my MRR or AOV, projected product/SKU and cashflow.”

Undertaking another migration was not an easy decision for Truly Free, but they were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and support they received throughout the process with sticky.io.
sticky.io’s Client Success team led a detailed and thorough onboarding process, with reliable one-on-one support. There was constant communication between sticky.io’s development, marketing and service teams. Weekly calls throughout the process ensured Truly Free selected the right third-party partners and backend architecting to maximize sticky.io’s impact.
The migration to sticky.io resulted in year-over-year subscription growth, revenue growth, recovered revenue and churn reduction for Truly Free.
RealDefense reduced chargebacks by 52% and generated 7.5% additional gross revenue after switching to sticky.io. They gained a true partner that strategically managed their migration process, provides ongoing guidance and simplifies complex billing.
